Position Summary
The Strategic Partnerships Group is seeking a Senior Manager to support New Business Development and Strategy for Samsung’s cross-platform Gaming Service business. This role will be responsible for identifying and executing strategic partnerships that drive revenue, enable new products and services, and enhance the Gaming experience across Samsung’s device ecosystem. This role will offer an opportunity to define Samsung’s cross-device Games service strategy and product roadmap and lead major initiatives within the company. The candidate should have the ability to quickly develop expertise and a point of view on new industries, technologies and partnership opportunities, and advocate for, and build consensus around, their recommendations among executives and other key stakeholders.
The candidate should be equally comfortable negotiating contracts and collaborating on product strategy, and should have experience leading complex, high-impact projects with cross-functional teams. The candidate should have experience working at the cross-section of gaming, tech and media and possess a strong understanding of the Mobile and TV landscape, including the key services, distribution channels and business models.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, as well as a strong analytical bent and the ability to navigate and embrace complexity. While managing the day-to-day partner relationships, the candidate will need to be able to see the big picture while remaining detail oriented. S/he will demonstrate a mastery of verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings, drive presentations, and represent Samsung to all levels of partner organizations. The Strategic Partner Manager must be a self-starter and will need be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, take the initiative, manage multiple projects at a time, and work under tight timeframes.
Role and Responsibilities
- Source, define and execute on first-of-their kind TV & Mobile Game partnership opportunities for Samsung’s service business
- Evaluate new opportunities, provide strategic direction, and secure buy-in from internal and external executives
- Define non-standard deal structures; Negotiate large, multifaceted agreements
- Build and deploy implementation plans that ensure project success
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, marketing, ops), acting as point on all aspects of the partnership strategy and execution
- Grow existing strategic partnerships; identify new areas of collaboration and revenue opportunities with high value partners
- Inform long-term service strategy and product roadmap
- Work with Product, Engineering, Marketing and BD groups across Samsung business units to develop new businesses, products and features that leverage Samsung’s ecosystem of devices
Skills and Qualifications
- 8+ years of overall experience with Bachelor Degree, MBA or JD preferred
- 4+ years of experience and deep knowledge of the Gaming industry
- Strong written, verbal communication, presentation and analytical skills required
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple complex assignments and projects
- Experience leading complex, senior level negotiations; Experience communicating with and presenting to C-level leadership
- Ability to read and interpret detailed product development documents and contracts
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and defend opinions regarding market and competitive direction along with associated impact on company strategy
- Ability to develop relationships internally and externally, identify and influence key stakeholders, and set new directions for the business
- Excellent negotiation skills and extensive experience negotiating and redlining non-standard, multi-layered contracts
- Self-motivated with ability to work in an unstructured environment. Candidates will have a strong operational mindset with a decisive get it done and whatever it takes mentality
Compensation for this role, for candidates based in New York City, NY, is expected to be between $160,000 ~ $210,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
