Job DescriptionThe Solutions Engineer is responsible for assisting Associated's customers in conceptualizing and promoting solutions in their distribution/warehousing environment. This position plays a key role in developing new business from existing customers as well as initiating new relationships. The position requires a strong understanding of the distribution and logistics industry, excellent communication skills, and ability to develop a "trusted advisor" relationship with customers.
Duties Responsibilities:- Meets/exceeds sales activity goals and revenue targets by conceptualizing value added alternatives providing viable justification and long-term satisfaction for customers.
- Consistently exhibits a team-oriented, customer focus with strong attention to detail.
- Leads and manages resources to efficiently sell the full suite of Associated's offerings to include Distribution Engineering Services, Operational Excellence, Consulting and Material Handling Systems solutions.
- Builds strong relationships with internal sales team and business development.
- Fields and deploys the appropriate team (Project Engineers, Consultants, Management) in order to obtain a respective opportunity.
- Works with all levels within customer organizations, including executive management, to conduct sales presentations, demonstrations, negotiations and project justifications.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of equipment and service offerings within the competitive marketplace.
- Focuses on selling solutions with complete understanding and analysis of the client's existing and future business needs.
- Supports and performs business initiatives such as promotions, campaigns, and trade shows.
- Maintains contact with the public, customers, and other employees for the use of information exchange.
- Provides forecasts on business opportunities through accurate and timely updates to management.
- Represents Associated professionally in internal and external business meetings.
- Actively participates in team activities that promote a sense of "esprit de corps" amongst the Associated Team.
- Plans, organizes, and executes sales strategies in a timely manner.
- Requires frequent business travel to customer sites, which may include minimal (20%) overnight travel.
- Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Knowledge, Skills Abilities:- Knowledge of AutoCAD products.
- Knowledge of comprehensive warehouse management, distribution, and/or material handling industry.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
- Skilled in excellent written, verbal, presentation and listening skills to communicate with team members, customers, vendors and subcontractors.
- Skilled in time-management and maintenance of project deadlines.
- Ability to organize goals, objectives, and execution plan of a project and to build business.
- Ability to work with all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
- Ability to take a leadership role and represent integrity, honesty, teamwork, and motivation.
- Ability to work with all buying influences, handle enterprise accounts, and close multi-million-dollar deals.
- Ability to identify 'key players' at a customer organization and identify critical issues to be addressed through Associated's offerings.
- Ability to analyze raw data for the use of developing customer solutions to provide for project application.
- Ability to apply sound judgment and reasoning.
Education Experience:A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required; Industrial Engineering Degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the distribution or material handling industry with an understanding of the application of warehousing technology and an aptitude for selling. Preferred candidate will have a demonstrable track record of sales success in the fields of automated and storage solutions.
