Job Description
Verisk is currently looking for highly motivated sales entrepreneurs to join our Business Development team. Initially, we will ask that you learn the science, statistics and risk-based analytics that underpin our casualty modeling solutions. You will work closely with clients and prospects to understand their business needs, with a view to creating and expanding those relationships and ultimately growing Verisk’s revenue and market share in the casualty modeling and risk management space.
A large proportion of your time will be spent engaging with multiple job functions and levels of seniority, including “C” suite, across the national and global insurers, reinsurers and brokers.
About the Day-to-Day Responsibilities of the Role
- Improve our market penetration among insurers, reinsurers, and intermediaries in the expanding business of casualty exposure management and risk management software
- Collaborate with R&D, product management, and marketing teams to raise awareness of the casualty modeling discipline, and develop and deliver compelling value propositions
- Manage major client accounts to ensure retention and to identify new sales opportunities
- Work with qualified prospects to demonstrate how Verisk’s leading-edge data products and solutions will meet their needs.
- Work with a high-powered team of professionals to understand sophisticated risk-modeling techniques and to identify new marketing approaches
- Write proposals, as well as negotiate and structure licencing contracts
- Manage the sales pipeline, supporting and engaging with account executives globally, communicating sales status to management and attending sales meetings
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual goals and objectives and track progress in achieving them
Education:
- BS or BA degree in a quantitative field
- MBA or MS Management desirable
Qualifications
- Strong experience in business development, marketing and sales in the P&C insurance industry with an emphasis on liability lines of business
- Excellent communication and demonstration skills
- Demonstrated ability to follow through the sales process from initiating to closing the sale
- Self-motivated and ability to work autonomously
Knowledge of at least one of the following areas a plus:
- P&C insurance industry with strong liability knowledge
- Underwriting, claims or actuarial experience a strong benefit
- Proven track record in sales and account management, or solid potential to develop these skills
