Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $146,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $242,100/year in our highest geographic market. Amazon seeks a customer-obsessed leader to own and nurture our relationships with the funds and portfolio companies of Amazon Catalytic Capital (ACC). The individual will create opportunities for strategic collaborations (e.g., partnerships, direct investments) between Amazon and with funds and startups. This candidate will develop metrics to measure success, and monitor the investments based on those metrics, and build visibility with senior stakeholders across Amazon.
Day-to-day, this individual will identify and lead complex, first-of-a-kind commercial negotiations that have broad implications to multiple Amazon business units and require a strong centralized advocate. This individual will be expected to proactively engage and lead diverse teams across multiple Amazon business units, geographies, scientific domains (AI, cleantech, fintech, future of work, enterprise, etc), and timelines. Successful candidates enjoy diving deep into complex problems, work effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Amazon’s peculiar ways of working, be familiar with the practice of venture capital, and be proven startup founders and corporate operators.
This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, or Seattle, Washington, and will report into a Director of Corporate Development.
Key job responsibilities
• Execute and lead our strategy to support our funds and their portfolio companies and underrepresented founders, including:
o provide value-added services that utilize Amazon’s strengths
o create connectivity between funds, selected portfolio companies, and Amazon through programmatic activities that span Amazon investment funds and business units
o develop and operate portfolio monitoring and reporting mechanisms
o continuously raise the bar on programs, processes, and best practices
• Serve as the primary point of contact between ACC portfolio companies and Amazon, including our BUs (AWS, Ops, WFM, etc), PR, Public Policy, Sustainability, Legal, Finance, Tax, and other key partner teams to increase visibility and even drive adoption of portfolio company technologies inside Amazon.
• In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to be part of investment decisions for funds as well as portfolio companies.
