The Senior Manager, Digital Marketing Vendors and Business Development plays a pivotal role at Thomas in creating, developing, and overseeing digital marketing vendors and third-party relationships as well as assessing new business opportunities for Thomas Marketing Services. The role includes negotiating contracts, ensuring vendors meet performance and compliance standards, and modeling the business potential of new programs. This position demands a strategic, business-minded leader who is able to work autonomously and has proven success in driving vendor performance, mitigating risks, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the service delivery team.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Vendor Management
- Establish and maintain robust, proactive relationships with key vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Foster a collaborative environment to facilitate effective communication and problem-solving between vendors and internal teams.
- Develop, update, and enforce SOPs and SLAs to ensure all parties understand and adhere to established standards.
- Develop and implement comprehensive vendor performance measurement frameworks based on quality, delivery time, cost-effectiveness, and compliance that directly map to Thomas company performance metrics.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, using data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Identify potential risks associated with vendor operations and develop robust mitigation strategies.
- Proactively address and resolve vendor disputes or issues, ensuring minimal disruption to service delivery.
Contract and Financial Management
- Lead contract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that align with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
- Track and manage vendor-related budgets, ensuring accurate billing and timely disbursements. Analyze financial performance and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality.
Vendor Selection and Evaluation
- Research and identify potential new vendors capable of delivering high-quality services at competitive prices.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of potential vendors and present well-supported recommendations to senior management.
- Continuously assess existing vendors to ensure they meet evolving organizational needs and performance standards.
- Utilize feedback from internal stakeholders to drive enhancements in vendor services and performance.
Business Development
- Identify and assess potential vendors to align with the company’s marketing objectives and budget.
- Conduct thorough research and evaluations of vendors based on past performance, capabilities, and pricing.
- Select vendors that best meet the company’s needs and strategic goals.
- Analyze gaps and opportunities in the Thomas Marketing Services offerings, and identify new and modified products to meet client needs.
- Identify internal and external resource options to deliver new programs with consistent quality and efficient use of resources.
- Establish and regularly utilize a data-driven framework to measure vendor performance in introducing new marketing offerings, focusing on enhancing customer satisfaction and retention.
Qualifications:
- 5-8+ years of experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and business development, ideally in a B2B environment.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple, varied vendors and programs in a fast-paced environment.
- Extensive experience developing financial models.
- Proven track record of working autonomously to own and drive improvement from vendor teams and identify and close new relationships.
- Proven track record of collaborating and influencing cross-functionally.Strong analytical and financial skills with the ability to assess and measure programs and vendor performance using data-driven insights.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Strong grasp of business drivers and risk management techniques.
- Superior problem-solving abilities with a focus on quick and efficient resolution of disputes and issues.
- Proficient in using platforms such as Airtable, Asana, and Looker to analyze data, track vendor performance, and facilitate communication across teams.
- Digital Marketing or Professional Services experience a plus
