The Livestock Regional Sales Manager is responsible for maximizing sales, increasing market share, and/or developing sustainable business units within assigned market segments, including both Cattle and Integrated Protein (Swine & Poultry). This position will directly manage territory sales managers (TMs) and inside sales representatives (ISRs). Responsibilities to include identifying, hiring and developing personnel, sales territory assignment and optimization, appraising performance, and monitoring sales territory action plans. The position is also responsible for controlling expenses and accounts receivables, while implementing approved sales and marketing plans for the assigned market segments, along with gathering competitive and consumer marketing information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and generate sales revenue through directing, coaching, training, and assistance of subordinate personnel.
- Communicate with existing customer base on a consistent basis to: (1) monitor customer satisfaction; (2) resolve customer problems and concerns; and (3) monitor competitive position.
- Develop sales plans (Plan of Action) to penetrate new markets to increase market share and profitability of territory while providing regular updates to the Director of Sales.
- Meet or exceed assigned budgeted sales revenues for the territory & team.
- Assist with planning and representing the company at Industry Tradeshows/meetings
- Participates in the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Livestock Commercial Team
- Analyze and control expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements
- Participate in the resolution of customer billing or collection problems
- Review and analyze data and reports on sales activities. Ensure rep compliance with sales management software (Salesforce/CRM) and established Key Performance Indicators.
- Work collaboratively with other Sales Regions and members of the Livestock Division
- Execute Sales and Marketing programs that have been approved by management
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, ag business, animal science or other related field. 5 or more years of sales experience with demonstrated sales management experience (2 or more years preferred). Willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
