The Evernorth New Solutions Strategy and Business Development Managing Director role is a key leadership position to help shape and define innovative new solutions through a keen understanding of product design, social science and the healthcare ecosystem. This role leverages these key areas of expertise to create testable hypotheses based on clients / prospective clients and their population’s needs. This role focuses on providing thought leadership across executive matrix team partners on developing new and innovative solutions that address healthcare’s biggest challenges. This role is also responsible for the design and delivery of an immersive customer experience for The Lab located in St. Louis.
The Managing Director reports directly to the Chief Innovation Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Positioned as a Thought Leader in the organization as well as in the healthcare ecosystem on how to address healthcare’s biggest challenges. Define the vision for Evernorth products, inclusive of designing, testing and advancing innovative, disruptive solutions.
- Leverage internal and external sources to keep a constant pulse on the marketplace to understand future state opportunities. Leverage data and analytics resources to inform vision and recommendations for innovation.
- Develop innovation strategies that help differentiate Evernorth in the marketplace and align our interest with those of our stakeholders, clients and their members
- Apply experience and knowledge of design, social science and healthcare best practices to create testable hypotheses based on client’s and their population needs, which directly influence Evernorth’s ability to address healthcare’s biggest challenges
- Partner with clients, data & research institutions, public health, community organizations and internal partners, to drive new innovation
- Design and deliver an immersive customer experience for The Lab in Saint Louis that captivates and inspires
- Serve as an executive sponsor during client, community partner, and internal stakeholder visits to the St. Louis Lab
- Understand the landscape of health vendor partners and effectively negotiate best value, terms, and conditions with select partners resulting in faster speed to market and effective results while mitigating risk to Evernorth.
- Offer a unique point of view and respectfully challenges the status quo to help foster innovation and continuous improvement
- Shift team focus from one priority to another when necessary, even if that means stopping mid-work to change directions
- Generate thoughtful design, direction and actions from ambiguous or unclear environments to support new innovation for clients, customers and physicians
- Guide and mentor a high performing new solutions team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and commitment to excellence
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent years of experience in related field(s). Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience within solutions development, product management and/or Innovation fields
- Proven success as a Senior Leader with respect to inspiring, engaging and developing both direct and indirect reports
- 10+ years of healthcare experience. Commercial, PBM industry experience preferred.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align solutions with business objectives and market trends
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Has a comprehensive view of Health Services and how to drive holistic innovation inclusive of medical, pharmacy, and other offered health benefits
- Leads with an enterprise mindset
- History of developing new and innovative solutions that result in better health and value.
- Strong executive presence and an ability to influence Senior level leadership within and outside of the organization.
- Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with complex and conflicting requirements
- Demonstrated experience working in a matrix organization to drive business results where the organizations providing critical services do not report to the accountable leader such as project management, operations, IT, finance, legal, etc.
- Ability to work in person, with team, from STL Lab preferred
Travel up to 20%, greater if not located in St. Louis metro area
