Pershing X is a start-up unit designed to incubate, engineer, and deliver breakthrough solutions that will transform the advisory market. Pershing X will deliver the industry’s leading end-to-end advisory platform, helping financial service firms solve the challenge of managing multiple and disconnected technology tools and data sets for their advisors and fueling our clients’ business growth. We are a collaborative and fast-growing team working on exciting and innovative digital product offerings.
We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Business Development Officer to join our Pershing X team.
The business Development Officer will be responsible for leading complex sales opportunities, with a focus on revenue growth across all Pershing X products and services.
- Identify prospective clients, lead generation and conversion opportunities for incremental revenue growth.
- Deep understanding of advisory business space, data and market forces changing the financial services industry
- Develop a core understanding of the Pershing X business, its strategy and its products and services.
- Responsible for contractual obligations such as pricing and contract terms for new clients.
- Sound understanding of the RIA (Registered Investment Advisor), broker dealer and bank trust segments and how to sell into each market segment.
- Strong understanding of how to navigate complex organizations.
- Host prospective client demos and meetings.
- Lead and execute sales deliverables identified in the prospecting phase of sales engagements.
- Prospect Research and analyze the business environment for industry trends and competitor services/ offerings.
- Partners with Wealth Solutions (Enterprise BDO’s and Relationship Managers) teams to create sales opportunities and accelerate the sales process.
- Work closely with the business development and Relationship Management teams to introduce PX as part of the sales process.
- Ensures client onboarding and/or risk management activities are conducted and captured (KYC (Know Your Customer).
- Develop, track and report on revenue goals for both new sales and organic growth.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Advanced/graduate degree preferred. 5-7 years of total work experience preferred. Financial Services experience with a particular client type or product (Hedge, Pension, etc.) preferred as is prior experience in Relationship Management, Client Services or Account Management. Applicable local/regional licenses or certifications as required by the business.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $81,000 and $149,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
