Provides sales support to the asset servicing Sales team across North America, primarily this role will be to support the Sales Managers in Canada. There will be opportunities to provide support to the other Sales Managers across North America.
The sale associate works very closely with the Sales Managers to support them in winning new business; this is a pivotal role supporting the sales manager through the full sales cycle. They support the RFP team, to assist in gathering accurate information from the business to complete the responses. They are responsible for gathering key statistics externally/internally in order to support the preparation of the commercial models. Additionally, they will coordinate all aspects of any due diligence visits and assist in preparing the internal teams for these meetings. They will maintain up to date market research of target markets/sectors to help drive the sales strategy.
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Produces sales reports on a regular and ad hoc basis. Maintain up to date market research of target markets/sectors.
Research new markets/sectors of interest to Northern Trust.
Research prospect profile and work alongside sales managers on key deals.
Support the RFP and sales teams as required to gather accurate, timely and quality information from the business.
Prepare the commercial fee models and proposals.
Prepare support and coordinate all aspects relating to sales presentations and due diligence visits such as presentation booklets, supporting sales material, briefing memos and sessions, agendas, etc.
Maintain sales/prospect database.
Represent NT alongside sales team at certain conferences as appropriate.
Assist sales team in the preparation and running of certain Northern Trust conferences working alongside the events managers.
Produce monthly prospect and sales snapshot reports and quarterly sales insight reports.
Analyze prospect data to assist sales team focus on target markets/prospects, differentiators and product gaps.
Attend client meetings to support the Sales Manager.
Support the Sales Manager in the pre-meeting sales preparation process.
The role is to be based in Toronto and will report into the Head of US Sales Operations.
Key Characteristics and Skills
2 or more years of related experience
Prior experience within Custody and Fund Services preferred
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of financial products and services and basic sales concepts usually obtained through related work experience or formal education is required to assist with sales process
Excellent excel and PowerPoint skills
Strong numerical ability
Meticulous attention to detail
Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required to interact with clients
Ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines
Ability to work under pressure
A flexible, proactive and “can-do” attitude
French speaking would be an advantage
