SUMMARY/OBJECTIVESIt is the responsibility of the Correspondent Junior Business Development Officer to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining current relationships, and developing new relationships, by marketing current SouthState Correspondent products and services. The position is responsible for maintaining a current working knowledge of all products and services offered by SouthState Correspondent.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThis position is expected to perform the specific duties, tasks, and responsibilities as outlined below:
- Responsible for maintaining current relationships and creating new relationships with our community bank customers, by marketing existing products and services through in-bank, telephone, and written contact.
- Develop and maintain a general working knowledge of the banking industry, of SouthState Bank, N.A., its affiliates, and any strategic alliance service offerings.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Bank Management, Division Management, and Division support personnel to follow-up on business opportunities and/or problems encountered during customer contact.
- Plan and schedule visits to all customers and prospects within a defined region and assist in completing contact reports for all visits to customers/prospects.
- Act as a SouthState Correspondent liaison at both bank-sponsored and external events.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with market and industry influencers, within a defined region.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports., This position requires a large amount of time in front of a computer. This can be done sitting or standing with use of the right desk.
WORK ENVIRONMENTTelecommuting roles no matter if hybrid or 100% full time telecommuting must have a secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred. Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered.
TRAVELThis position will be required to travel. Most of the travel will be day trips. Some overnight travel is also required on a monthly basis.
