Cloud Business Development Manager
Job Description
The SaaS Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible to drive and support the sales organization in the pursuit of SaaS opportunities with current customers and new prospects. The BDM partners with the field sales organization to provide strategic account focus and guide them throughout the sales process. They also play a critical role in driving the move to SaaS by articulating the value that our customers and prospects will realize.
The BDM acts as the “advisor” and Subject Matter Expert through the entire sales process to ensure we are following the agreed upon internal process that will drive healthy and successful engagements for PTC, customers, and partners.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Provide technical and sales expertise for our SaaS solutions to the internal sales organization. Act as the liaison between the field and the corporate eco-system and drive urgency to resolve obstacles.
- Provide individual deal consulting to the sales organization on how best to present the PTC SaaS solutions.
- Create all pricing and packaging for SaaS solutions and ensure they meet the required targets.
- Act as an “evangelist” for our SaaS solutions to the field and our customers to drive excitement and urgency.
- Collaborate with customers, PTC Solutions Consultants, and product management to align on customer requirements and ensuring that our solutions can satisfy those needs.
- Present internally and externally the value of our SaaS solutions and develop a deep understanding of our cloud offerings and the differentiated value they provide.
- Proactively identify the best account targets and prioritize them based on current solutions available. Collaborate with the sales team to capitalize on growth opportunities in the territory.
- Cultivate trusted advisor relationships with sales teams, key accounts, and customer stakeholders.
- Effectively drive customer planning and readiness for Cloud/SaaS solutions and connect customers with appropriate partners to support them.
- Aid with challenging customer requests or issue escalations, ensuring prompt resolution.
- Assist in negotiating contracts in relation to cloud or SaaS specific items.
- Manage the pipeline and deal progression within your defined territory and ensure all reporting and SFDC is accurate.
- Forecast and track key account metrics, including quarterly sales results and annual forecasts.

- Exceptional organization skills required and attention to detail. Must be able to balance multiple competing priorities.
- Strong technical and business acumen skills to understand complex enterprise software solutions.
- Superior communication skills required to ensure all extended team members are always aware of current actions and next steps.
- A passion and enthusiasm to drive opportunities forward with urgency and escalating when necessary to remove roadblocks.
- 5+ years’ experience with a SaaS company in a sales or overlay sales role.
- Experience with one or more major cloud providers like Azure, AWS, Google etc.
- Customer-centric mindset with a passion for innovation and the ability to drive sales campaigns across a defined territory.
- Good presentation skills and the ability to convey a strong value proposition to customers.
- Work well under pressure in unstructured and structured environments.
- Knowledge of current SaaS technologies and understanding the complexity of single and multi-tenant solutions.
- Must be comfortable with ambiguity and possess patience with changing priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Excel & PowerPoint capabilities.
- BA/BS Required.
