The Business Development team is part of Citi's Client organization and responsible for driving core disciplines of investments, digital assets, and strategic partnerships to deliver client solutions, create new business opportunities and impact the direction of market structure and growth.
The Head of Financial Infrastructure Business Development will lead the market structure strategy and advocacy to impact direction of infrastructure growth enabling identification of mutual areas to develop forward looking partnership and business development opportunities. The Head will be responsible for managing key industry relationship with roles on industry boards or groups and expected to have excellent communication skills to influence a wide range of audiences.
The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of markets structures, with extensive experience in Markets, Payments and/or Custody as well as experience in deal structuring and investments. The Head is expected to come with experience on boards (industry and/or portfolio company) as well as execution experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and drive overall market structure strategy and new business development opportunities
- Serve as the dedicated relationship manager for financial infrastructure companies overseeing client relations and building strong relationships with executives throughout the industry and advancing Citi businesses
- Originate and execute new partnership opportunities, often in emerging business models
- Create and implement framework for a firm-wide view of financial infrastructure relationships and priorities for Citi
- Improve balance of trade
- Collaborate effectively with business leadership throughout product areas to align strategy and drive execution of priorities
- Identify new investment opportunities
- Serve on industry boards and other industry roles as synergies with existing focus areas
- Represent Citi externally to media and clients as an expert in the industry
- Act as the point of contact internally for regulatory working groups and committees with financial infrastructure focus
- Collaborate with resolution planning and risk management teams
- Advocate for regulatory and governance in the industry, representing Citi's interests
- Build out and manage team
Qualifications:- 15+ years experience in strategy development and execution
- In-depth knowledge of financial infrastructure industry
- Broad, comprehensive Markets, Payments, Custody knowledge a plus
- Experience on industry Boards and Groups, including senior engagement management roles
- Understand deal structure
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrates clear understanding of the drivers of performance and decision making to maximize results
- Strategic thinker with proven ability to operationalize the strategy
- Robust problem-solving skills
- Communication skills and ability to influence others and deliver clearly articulate presentations to senior leaders, internally and externally
- Demonstrated analytical skills
- Ability to lead and direct a team of knowledgeable professionals
Education:- Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
