Croda's purpose of 'Smart Science to Improve Lives', is underpinned by our market leading position as a highly sustainable manufacturer of excipients, adjuvants and lipids for the Pharmaceutical sector. Our Pharma business in experiencing a period of rapid growth and investment and we are looking to recruit a Business Development Specialist to drive business development on the West Coast, specifically in the San Francisco area.
Reporting into the Business Director - Pharma, North America, this is a newly created role and an opportunity for an individual, passionate about all aspects of drug delivery, including lipid nanoparticles and nucleic acid delivery to join a regional sales team and support business growth in one of our key strategic markets.
Who we're looking for:- A strong background in business development and/or account management within specialty chemical sales into the pharmaceutical drug development and drug manufacturing sector
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strategic relationships with customers and lead cross functional internal teams to ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded
- A high level of curiosity and a passion for learning more about the biopharma sector, customers and identifying opportunities for Croda to develop our product offering and improve our sales effectiveness
- An impressive commercial acumen and a passion for building customer relationships and the ability to regularly travel to ensure close collaboration with R&D and Senior Leadership teams
- High level of authenticity to effectively portray and embody the Croda culture and values
- Degree qualified in a technical discipline (Chemistry, Biotechnology, etc.)
Duties and Responsibilities:- Prospect and drive business development activities to scope out new opportunities for Croda's excipients, adjuvants and lipids into Small Molecule, Protein Delivery, Nucleic Acid Delivery and Vaccine applications with a focus on double digit organic growth.
- Create and manage a sales pipeline from concept to recurring orders whilst developing a strong understanding of new opportunities through strategic marketing and competitor intelligence.
- Negotiate all pricing and terms with customers within your portfolio and manage key customer relationships ensuring Croda is well positioned within customer R&D projects.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date, relevant technical, regulatory and market knowledge whilst providing technical and marketing expertise for the promotion of products, supported by technical teams as appropriate.
- Identify opportunities for Croda to improve our sales effectiveness and help drive a culture of entrepreneurialism within the commercial function
- Act with a high degree of ethics and business conduct whilst performing all duties within the Company's safety, health and environmental regulations.
Skills and Abilities:- Willingness to travel and visit customers several days per week and up to 25% overnight travel
- A passion for innovation with the ability to build strong working relationships with customer's commercial and technical teams
- High level of strategic thinking and curiosity to capture and implement continuous improvement initiatives within the sales process.
- Highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Motivated by working in an entrepreneurial and matrix driven work environment where you will be part of cross functional teams to deliver customer value.
Physical Demands: Must be able to walk, stand or sit for a minimum of 8 hours per day. Must be able to travel by car and airplane; lift 30 lbs
The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
