What we’re looking for:
Nexamp is looking to hire a Business Development Analyst. Nexamp is seeking a highly experienced analytical energy professional to advance our strategic and tactical decision-making for project origination, Electric bill analysis, development and closure. This team member would also provide input to advance the Company’s market positioning, public policy objectives, project valuation and provide guidance for procurement, development and/or utilization of sales analytics tools.
You will be remote out of San Diego, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, CA. You may also be based in other regional locations. You will report to the Vice President, Business Development.
What you’ll do:
The Business Development Analyst will advance Nexamp’s strategic and tactical decision-making in support of project origination, customer proposal generation, development and negotiation of value proposition w/ potential behind-the-meter customers, and contract closure for integrated solar PV and/or battery energy storage systems (PV+BESS). You will contribute to market positioning and sales operations, preliminary project due diligence, bill analysis, energy modeling and internal project evaluation. Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluate prospective customers’ energy bills per their specific load profile and existing tariff-based costs
- Determine avoided cost or value of solar as a threshold for solar and/or storage feasibility
- Perform initial sizing analysis and production forecasts for solar generation alone, assess the impact of battery energy storage system projects during the development stage
- Utilize economic modeling tools for PV+ESS projects to assess feasibility, savings and develop project proposals
- Assist project developers in developing high quality proposals to communicate Nexamp's products, services and value proposition
- Assist project developers in presenting use case, proposed project and cost benefit to potential power purchase agreement counterparts and/or property owners.
- Guidance to Nexamp grid integration team in preparation of interconnection applications and agreements
- Collaborate with EPC teams on development of project scope and cost estimation w/ installation partners in support of competitive bidding
- Assist Developers in sales operations functions, customer relationship management, budgeting, and forecasting
- Assist Leadership in evaluating markets segments, competitive analysis and complimentary product offerings
- Participate in cross departmental integration with Engineering, design, equipment selection, and grid integration to advance Nexamp’s development of customer solutions and related value propositions
What you’ll bring:
- Three or more years of energy industry experience in support of sales, finance, marketing or business development
- Analysis of energy consumption, offtake value proposition, time-of-use tariffs, and knowledge of utility programs in, and outside of, the State of California
- Knowledge of transactional energy analytics, e.g., energy efficiency, power generation, energy storage, etc.
- Knowledge of the integration of solar and energy storage systems
- Advanced MS Excel skills, high proficiency with MS Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication skills in both oral, written and dynamic presentation formats
- Ability to keep track of quickly changing market conditions regarding energy program incentive funding, product development and competitive landscape
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, high-quality performer

- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.

- Complex financial structuring
- Public energy policy and utility tariff design
- Proficiency with SalesForce, Energy Toolbase, Helioscope, and MS Project
- Project financial analysis including tax and accounting concepts
- Business model understanding of commercial real estate, public agencies, and energy load servicing entities

Compensation:
Per California Law, Nexamp, Inc. discloses that the reasonably estimated salary for this role at Nexamp ranges from $80,000-$110,000. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company’s stock option plan. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but is not limited to, skills and qualifications, internal equity, performance, and geographic location.
