Job Duties

Startup and Pre-venture Small Business Advice: Advise and consult with startup and pre-venture small business clients, assist with business plan development, direct an action plan for their business, refer to Business Specialists as needed, conduct client follow-up, input client data into the customer database for each client session, and track economic impact.
Client Research: Generate research reports from the Data Axle database, demographic reports from the Demographics Now database, and information from other available resources such as SBDCNet for clients and staff members' clients.
Review business plans for pre-venture clients. Enter client sessions and information transfers into Center IC database.
Public Relations: Coordinate public relations activities including managing the center's ConstantContact email database, social media platforms, and print media that align with the mission of the TSBDC and comply with SBA and SBDC branding requirements. Provide branded logos, images, and seals to strategic partners as needed.Utilize the center's ConstantContact database to create and publish monthly eNewsletters and intermittent eBlasts. Track ConstantContact analytics and adapt publishing to optimize delivery of information. Maintain contacts in ConstantContact database. Create and distribute branded flyers, brochures, and related materials as needed.
Events: Correspond with strategic partners, local and state governments and area agencies, subject matter experts, trainers, and presenters to coordinate workshops, seminars, and training events. Gather and edit event details such as event dates, times, titles, descriptions, handouts, presenter's names, and contact information. Record and publish event details in Center IC database prior to events and verify, claim, and prepare training and education activity reports in Center IC following events. Ensure audio and visual equipment is in working order prior to certain events. Prepare for and occasionally represent the center at events within the center's service area to promote small businesses and the activities of strategic partners.
Report Writing and Editing: Assist in writing, editing, and proofing grant requests, the TSBDC semi-annual and annual reports, client nominations for SBA awards, TSBDC client success stories, press releases, and Rising Star awards. Develop and/or edit, update, and proof center PowerPoint Presentations.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience working in a professional office setting. • Previous front line customer service experience. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook

• Knowledge or experience in starting a business

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong written communication skills. • Excellent verbal communication with listening skills. • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practice. • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration.

Pay Rate: $ 30 per hour

Schedule/Hours: No more than 25-29 hours may be worked per week (hours depend on budget availability and need). Hours are scheduled between usual business hours of 8:00 to 4:30.
